I’m still really confused on who this movie was for - a lot of the original fans are ~outraged by the ‘comedy’ tones, but I don’t think it would have made ANY sense if you didn’t watch the show. A lot of these can be explained by things I knew from watching the series, but are never mentioned in the movie itself. I tended to fill in a lot of the characterization blanks with the characters I’m already familiar with - or at least attempted to find common ground between them. I don’t know. I don’t think it was a well-written script - or at the very least, it was not a well-edited movie, at all, which seems to be a common theme with all three Dark Shadows movies.
